Miwak Junior ceramic pipes are made from porcelain and stoneware clays, and fired in a gas kiln using a reduction process. The high heat renders our pipes especially sturdy, and the reduction creates an ever-changing array of finishes which make each piece truly one-of-a-kind. We hand-glaze our pipes using a lead-free, food safe glaze for a non-porous, easy-to-clean surface in the bowl.

We recommend a few methods to clean our ceramic pipes:
  • Soak for two hours in 8 oz hot water and 1 tbsp castile soap. Rinse, scrub with a dish sponge, and air dry.

  • Over a sink, put a pinch of salt and some rubbing alcohol into the pipe. Plug the pipe holes with fingers and shake, so that the interior resin is dislodged. Repeat and rinse well with warm water. Air dry.

  • Boil pipe in water. Place the pipe in an old pot with the water, raising the temperature of the water and the pipe simultaneously to avoid shock. Be sure to ventilate as the boiling will extract a smoky smell. Boil for 10-15 minutes and rinse well with lukewarm water.

  • To clean resin from the bowl, use a cotton swab with rubbing alcohol. Rinse and air dry.
  • We also carry KLEEN GREEN GOLD - a concentrated, 100% natural, non-toxic sanitizing cleanser with a multitude of household uses. Combine 7 parts distilled water to 1 part Kleen Green Gold, and submerge the pipe in this solution for 10 minutes. For a deeper cleaning, we recommend a 3 to 1 Kleen Green Gold to distilled water ratio, and soaking for 15-20 minutes.
