Curious about caring for your miwak junior pipes?

It's true - pipes get dirty.

If you've never owned ceramic smokeware before, you might be wondering if it needs special care. Actually, glazed ceramic is non-porus after firing, just like glass. And luckily for you, miwak pipes feature a hand-glazed bowl for easy cleaning.

There is more than one way to clean your pipe whenever it needs a little love! Here are a few suggestions:

wash

Soak for an hour or two in 8 oz. hot water and one teaspoon of our very own Terpene Wash, a super-concentrated, plant-based solution that’s free of synthetic dyes, fragrances, or preservatives – and full of limonene, a powerful antimicrobial and aromatic terpene commonly found in citrus peels as well as energizing strains of cannabis. Rinse, scrub with a dish sponge, and air dry.

salt

Over a sink, put a pinch of salt and some rubbing alcohol into the pipe. Plug the pipe holes with fingers and shake, so that the interior resin is dislodged. Repeat and rinse well with warm water. To clean resin from the bowl, use a cotton swab with rubbing alcohol. Rinse and air dry.

boil

Boil pipe in water. Place the pipe in an old pot with the water, raising the temperature of the water and the pipe simultaneously to avoid shock. Be sure to ventilate as the boiling will extract a smoky smell. Boil for 10-15 minutes and rinse well with lukewarm water. To clean resin from the bowl, use a cotton swab with rubbing alcohol.
